We are writing this letter to request assistance with supplying our families with Holiday Food Boxes. We are in need of Turkeys and non-perishable food items for Thanksgiving food boxes. Ocotillo Elementary School is part of the Washington Elementary School District, and we are located one block south of Glendale Road off of 31st avenue in Phoenix, AZ. The mission of Ocotillo Elementary School is to foster an enriching environment that produces lifelong learners with the necessary academic and social skills to be successful citizens. At Ocotillo, we service students in Pre-K through 6th grade. We are a very diverse school, and we educate children from various backgrounds. In addition, our school receives services through Title 1, so therefore we have a high rate of poverty within our school. One hundred percent of our students are on the free breakfast and lunch program. Many of our families and students are in need of specialized programs and basic needs, such as clothing and food.
Each year we have had private donors donate close to 40 turkeys. In addition, we hold a canned food drive to assist with putting together a complete food box for our families. This year, we are in need of turkeys and food. Our past private donors and churches are not able to assist us any longer due to economic problems facing our communities around Phoenix. We are requesting as many turkeys and non-perishable food items as possible. Our need for holiday food boxes has increased tremendously this year.
We would be very grateful and appreciative to have your organization join our Ocotillo Team as we embark on this wonderful opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our students and their families. Thank you for your assistance, and a special thank you to Apartment Finders Family for adopting us, and helping us to create a blessed holiday for our families.
